Police chase investigated after girl hurt

Police say the car sped away from police and veered towards the girl, hitting her on the footpath.
The driver didn't stop until he dumped the vehicle at Alfred Street in nearby Margate and ran off.

Assistant Commissioner Ian Stewart of the Queensland Police Ethical Standards Command said today it was not yet known if the officers in the police car breached revised safe driving policy guidelines, which include restrictions on pursuits.
