He writes that a police district management team has recommended Werribee – which covers a booming population of 121,000 – work shorter hours. About 70 people work at the station, a figure criticised as 30 to 40 short of what is needed.

There were 6900 crimes in the area covered by Werribee last year. They included seven murders, 146 rapes and sex assaults, 918 burglaries, 407 car thefts and 1064 cases of property damage.
